چکیده

The questions presented by Professor Dr. Roberto Fernandes da Costa and Dr. Edilson Serpeloni Cyrino are relevant and, Regarding the statistical analysis, we used a stringent sampling procedure and data that met specific requirements, namely: (a) the dependent variables were quantitative and continuous, and were measured in at least one interval scale; (b) there was homoscedasticity based on Levene’s test (homogeneity of variance); (c) the sample size was large and came from a population with normal distribution. We believe, therefore, that there was agreement with the central limit theorem. It is noteworthy that especially for large samples, the parametric tests (Student’s t-test and ANOVA) are more sensitive and have a more robust behavior even when the distribution of the study variable shows heteroscedasticity and is demonstrably not the normal type.5

Evaluation of the predictive capacity of vertical segmental tetrapolar bioimpedance for excess weight detection in adolescents.

OBJECTIVE To analyze the predictive capacity of the vertical segmental tetrapolar bioimpedance apparatus in the detection of excess weight in adolescents, using tetrapolar bioelectrical impedance as a reference. METHODS This was a cross-sectional study conducted with 411 students aged between 10 and 14 years, of both genders, enrolled in public and private schools, selected by a simple and st...

. 2 Supplementum 3 2003 Body Composition Assessment with Segmental Multifrequency Bioimpedance Method

Body composition assessment is an important factor in weight management, exercise science and clinical health care. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is widely used method for estimating body composition. The purpose of this study was to evaluate segmental multi-frequency bioimpedance method (SMFBIA) in body composition assessment with underwater weighing (UWW) and whole body dual energy x...

A Comparison between Impedance Measured by a Commercial Analyzer and Your Value Adjusted by a Theoretical Model in Body Composition Evaluation

The use of the electrical current on the evaluation of several physiological variables in the human body is not a recent technique but continues awaken a great interest in the research community. One of the greatest applications for such technique is the study of body composition through bioimpedance, where generally a equipment with tetrapolar array set of electrodes is used to realize the bio...

Measurements of body fat distribution: assessment of collinearity with body mass, adiposity and height in female adolescents

Objective: To verify the correlation between body fat location measurements with the body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage (BF%) and height, according to the nutritional status in female adolescents. Methods: A controlled cross-sectional study was carried out with 113 adolescents (G1: 38 with normal weight, but with high body fat level, G2: 40 with normal weight and G3: 35 overweight) from...

Body Fat Equations and Electrical Bioimpedance Values in Prediction of Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Eutrophic and Overweight Adolescents

The aim of this study was to analyze body fat anthropometric equations and electrical bioimpedance analysis (BIA) in the prediction of cardiovascular risk factors in eutrophic and overweight adolescents. 210 adolescents were divided into eutrophic group (G1) and overweight group (G2). The percentage of body fat (% BF) was estimated using 10 body fat anthropometric equations and 2 BIA. We measur...
